UNIZIK Post-UTME 2015: What You Should Do To Excel

The much anticipated time is here talking about the UNIZIK Post-UTME. The tension is mounting greatly. Some are excited, anxious while some are scared and panicky. It's quite normal when events such like this that determines the next phase in ones pursuit in life approaches. To some of you, it might be your first time of witnessing such experience while some are regular customers but determined to make it this time. Either ways, it's a matter of choice. The way you make your bed, so shall you lay on it. You must have read and read and read and read... The time is ripe for you to defend that which you have prepared for a long time. As you wait for your examination from the 7th-10th, revise the Post UTME past questions from the beginning to the end if possible. The first step to achieving success in this exam is to ensure ALL the requirements for the exams are handy otherwise you might be disorganized by the time the fiery looking, heavily built men of the Anti-cult of the university bounce you at the gate. Second step is to ensure you pay CLOSE attention to EVERY minute instruction starting from the entrance to the point you are asked to START. Thirdly, do NOT be hasty in answering the examination questions. Study the questions critically and meticulously before answering also bearing in mind that you are timed. The invigilation will be very strict and as such DO NOT think playing smart with the invigilators. Keep away ANYTHING that might implicate you; don't be surprised that even that Gum you might be chewing is a suspect. Engage the time when writing; expect nobody to give you extra time. Do not be tempted to talk as you might implicate yourself. Since the university authority says it's going to be CBT, do well to arrive the school in time so you wouldn't miss out. Above all, as a striker in a football pitch aims at netting a lot of goals, aim as high as 99% in your exam, that way, your admission is assured. Be wary of admission racketeers, don't fall prey with your money or body because the university authority is well prepared to conduct a free, fair and credible exam and as such no room for loopholes. Good luck and a resounding success in your Examination.

EARLY SIGNS OF PREGNANCY MOST READ ARTICLE FOR LADIES

f you're really tuned into your body and aware of how it ticks, you might begin to suspect that you're pregnant within the first few days of pregnancy. However, most women don't suspect they are pregnant until they miss a period. Some don't suspect or think they are pregnant for some months after conception. All women are different and will experience individual signs and symptoms. Even before missing a period, most pregnant women report having to go to the toilet more often. You may even have to get up during the night. This occurs after the embryo has implanted in the uterus and begins producing the pregnancy hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin ( hCG). This hormone triggers frequent urination. Constipation is another one of the possible early signs of pregnancy. Fatigue Fatigue or exhaustion is a very early sign of pregnancy in the first 12 weeks. Raised progesterone is one of the factors that contribute to fatigue in early pregnancy. Morning sickness Morning sickness or sickness and vomiting at other times of day. Despite the popular name, that queasy feeling isn't limited to mornings. Most pregnant women who experience morning sickness feel slightly nauseated at other times during the day as well. About half have vomiting, but very few have severe enough morning sickness to develop dehydration and malnutrition. Sore, tender and larger breasts
If you're pregnant, your breasts will probably become increasingly tender to the touch or may tingle. The feeling may be similar to the way breast feel before your period, only more so. Once your body grows accustomed to the increase in hormones, the discomfort will subside. Emotions change Hormonal changes in pregnancy can affect emotions, making many women feel more emotional and upset at times. Missed period Missing your period is one the clearest early signs of pregnancy, but it is not definitive, as stress or other factors may cause irregular periods. Also, some women who are pregnant may still have a very light period. Pregnancy test A typical pregnancy test can be done with a urine sample from the first day a period is missed, that's usually around two weeks after conception. Some sensitive pregnancy tests can be done before a period is missed. Pregnancy tests are free through the NHS or test kits can be bought from pharmacies. Once you know you are pregnant, see your GP. There's a lot to start planning and thinking about.I

Nutrition needs before pregnancy

Folic acid and pregnancy WebMD Medical Reference Medically reviewed by Dr Rob Hicks Folic acid is a type of B vitamin that's recommended for women planning a pregnancy. Taking folic acid supplements before getting pregnant and in the first part of pregnancy helps prevent neural tube defects. These are where the spinal cord in the baby's nervous system doesn't form normally. This can happen in conditions such as spina bifida. What is folic acid? Folic acid, also called folate, is a B vitamin. It plays a role in cell production and division, including the production of red blood cells. How much folic acid is needed? The Department of Health recommends a daily 400-microgram (mcg) folic acid supplement while you're trying to get pregnant and to keep taking it for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. A higher dose is recommended for women who are treated for epilepsy, diabetes and some other medical conditions, including a family history of neural tube defects. In these cases a 5 milligram (mg) supplement is usually suggested. Where do I get folic acid? GPs can advise on folic acid, and can prescribe tablets, or they are widely available in shops, including pharmacies. In the case of an unexpected or unplanned pregnancy, start taking folic acid as soon as you know you are pregnant. Foods high in folic acid Some foods, such as breakfast cereals and bread are already fortified with folic acid and other vitamins and minerals. Natural sources of folic acid include: Broccoli Peas Asparagus Brussels sprouts Chickpeas Brown rice

MUST READ ARTICLE FOR YOUTH ,SIDE EFFECT OF SMOKING

Smoking cessation health centre
Share this: Smoking – what will happen to my body? If you smoke, you've almost certainly heard friends and family nagging you to stop. Even as you reach for a cigarette you know that smoking makes heart disease, stroke, cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and other killers more likely. Knowing about long-term risks though may not be enough to nudge you to quit, especially if you're young. It can be hard to feel truly frightened by illnesses that may strike decades later. So, if you carry on smoking, what could be the effects on your body? Smoking is harmful because there are many ingredients in tobacco smoke that can harm your body. The main health risks from smoking are lung cancer, heart disease and stroke. Smoking causes almost 90% of deaths from lung cancer, around 80% of deaths from COPD, and around 17% of deaths from heart disease.
However, smoking also affects other parts of the body too. One study on smoking found that, on average, men who smoked throughout their lives died 10 years younger than those who had never smoked. How smoking damages the body As well as nicotine, there are more than 4,000 chemicals in tobacco smoke, of which many are poisons. At least 60 of these chemicals cause cancer. Among some of the most dangerous components are: Tar: When you breathe in tobacco smoke, some tar is deposited in the lungs. Your lungs are lined with tiny hairs that help 'sweep' germs and other things out of your lungs. It is harder for these hairs to move if your lungs are coated with tar. The tar in cigarette smoke contains chemicals called carcinogens, which encourage the development of cancer cells in the body. Carbon monoxide: Carbon monoxide binds itself to haemoglobin in the bloodstream and prevents it from carrying enough oxygen around the body. This means that someone who smokes is likely to get out of breath and get tired more easily. Eventually, you can get a lung disease called chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). If you have this, it gets harder and harder to breathe. Oxidant gases: Oxidant gases are gases that react with oxygen. They make blood more likely to clot, increasing the risk of heart attack or stroke. Benzene: Exposure to benzene can cause cell damage at the genetic level, and has been linked to a range of different cancers, such as leukaemia and kidney cancer. Benzene used to be added to petrol, but the practice was stopped because of health concerns. Cancer One of the most dangerous effects of smoking is the increased risk of lung cancer. Chemicals in tobacco smoke damage cells in the lungs and these then become cancer cells. The chances of developing lung cancer are affected by how much an individual smokes and for how long.

Red peppers are the belle of the ball at any buffet table. Crisp and incredibly sweet, these ladies in red are an easy sell to anyone who is not fond of vegetables. The only limiting factor is that they can be costly during winter, but now that it’s July, we can look forward to eating more inexpensive local peppers. Did you know that green peppers are just unripe red peppers? Because they are not fully mature, they have a bitter after taste, and half the vitamin C and 1/10th the vitamin A compared to their red or orange siblings. Vitamin A has been shown to improve sperm quality, and vitamin C helps build collagen, which ensures beautiful skin – all these combined makes peppers one of nature’s sexiest foods! Paprika and chili peppers offer the same benefits, but with extra capsaicin, a chemical that can produce a strong burning sensation in the mouth. This stimulating heat has been shown to increase blood flow making it a popular remedy for libido and pain relief. Here are five more alluring facts to increase your red pepper consumption: 1. Red peppers contain almost 300 percent of your daily vitamin C intake. Besides being a powerful antioxidant, vitamin C is also needed for the proper absorption of iron. If you are iron deficient, try combining red peppers with your iron source for maximum absorption. 2. Red bell peppers are a great source of vitamin B6 and magnesium. This vitamin and mineral combination shows a decrease in anxiety, especially related to pre-menstrual symptoms. Vitamin B6 is also a natural diuretic, so try stocking up on red bell peppers to reduce bloating and prevent against hypertension. 3. Red bell peppers help support healthy night vision. healthy eyesight, especially night vision. So when it comes to bell peppers, seeing red is a good thing! 4. Red bell peppers are packed with antioxidants. The combined effects of vitamin A and C create a great antioxidant capacity, and with lycopene in the mix, the red bell pepper becomes a top notch superfood. Lycopene is what makes tomatoes and peppers red. Red peppers are one of the highest veggies in lycopene, which has been successfully tested in the prevention of many cancers including prostate and lung. 5. Burn more calories with red bell peppers. Recent research has shown that sweet red peppers can activate thermogenesis and increase metabolic rate. Red bell peppers do not contain capsaicin, which is what makes peppers hot and causes us to sweat, but they do have a mild thermogenic action that increases our metabolism without increasing our heart rate and blood pressure like the hot peppers do.

The management of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has disclosed that the University will only admit 3,500 out of the 12,500 candidates that participated in the 2015 post-UTME screening exercise. This was made known by the Director of Academic Planning, Professor Olukayode Akinyemi while commenting on the just concluded screening exercise. He commended the efforts of the Federal Government in bench-marking the admission process, because it would allow many prospective students to have access to other levels of higher education such as the Polytechnics and Colleges of Education. He stated that it was imperative for Universities to have their own bench-marks, to maintain high standards. He noted that there were still other ways of screening-out candidates with bad characters even though they might have met the basic academic requirements in the interest of the system. Professor Akinyemi, however, advised candidates who could not be admitted into FUNAAB not to be discouraged as there were other institutions that could still admit them, because for now, FUNAAB could only admit about 3,500 applicants.
